During the European session, global stock markets traded slightly higher after the Bank of America Corp announced fourth-quarter earnings. The profits more than tripled from a year prior.

Here’s a quick update on US indices:

  • S&P 500 ( SPX ) jumped to 2,610.30, up by +1.07%
  • Nasdaq 100 traded bullish at 6,669.64, adding around +128.60 points.
  • Dow 30 (DJIA) soared to 24,065.59 adding +155.75 points and +0.65% for the day.

Now, let’s wait for the Government Confidence Vote as it may trigger a risk-off sentiment later today. In case you haven’t read FX Leaders Jan 16 morning brief, the UK Parliament will vote to determine the confidence in the appointed government.

A total of 318 votes are required for PM May’s government to stay in power. Fingers crossed!
