As a new trading week gets underway, news of a possible merger between automobile leaders Fiat Chrysler and Renault have helped boost European stock markets to open higher on Monday. The EU elections will also be in focus during today’s European session.
Shares of Fiat Chrysler and Renault have opened 10% higher, leading the run on STOXX 600. [[FSTE]], DAX and CAC are also trading in the green.
The two-party grand coalition comprising of conservatives and socialists lost their combined majority and have made way for liberals, Greens and Europsceptics to come to power in EU. What this means for European stock markets in the long run remains to be seen.
