Britain’s Budget to be Presented After Brexit This Year?
Amid ongoing Brexit uncertainties, Finance Minister Said Javid confirmed that he will present a budget in 2019. According to a recent report on Financial Times, Javid is expected to delay his first budget presentation until after the October 31 deadline of Brexit.
Javid had confirmed that the contents of the budget would depend on how Brexit finally happens, whether Britain’s exit from the EU takes place with or without a deal. At his party’s annual conference on Monday, Javid had listed his economic agenda and assured his party members that he was ready to roll out all the help possible via economic policy.
Javid confirmed plans for a 2019 budget while attending an event at the Institute of Economic Affairs. Although he failed to offer clarity on his plans for tax and spending, he hinted at his intentions of simplifying Britain’s current taxation system.
