Goldman Sachs Looking to Offer Bitcoin Investment Options?

Even as Bitcoin and the crypto market in general appear to be on a downtrend for now, there seems to be some good news on the horizon that can pique investor interest in the market and in the world’s largest cryptocurrency. A few days after we told you about how Morgan Stanley is planning to offer Bitcoin funds to its individual investors, a document from the US SEC points to Goldman Sachs looking to offer ETFs linked to Bitcoin.

The investment bank has filed an application for permission to offer notes linked to an ETF that has possible connections to cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin. The SEC filing reveals Goldman Sachs’ plans to offer $15.7 million of ETF linked notes, with its payout tied closely to the performance of the ARK Innovation ETF, which has an indirect exposure to companies working on blockchain and other similar disruptive technologies.

The document goes on to detail how, “The ETF may have exposure to cryptocurrency, such as bitcoin, indirectly through an investment in a grantor trust. The ETF’s exposure to cryptocurrency may change over time and, accordingly, such exposure may not always be represented in the ETF’s portfolio.”

The development comes even as other leading investment backs like Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan are looking at ways to expand their portfolio offerings towards Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. These moves can encourage more financial institutions to follow suit and enter the crypto sector, helping drive greater interest and acceptance towards the world of digital currencies in the near future.
