Javier Milei defended his Minister of Economy: “No one is going to mess with Caputo.”

The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, reaffirmed his minister in his position and indicated that another official would take up a new Ministry related to economic modernization.

President Javier Milei once again defended his Minister of Economy tonight, amidst rumors that he could be replaced in the future by Federico Sturzenegger. “No one is going to touch Caputo’s ass,” he said, adding that “he is one of the best ministers in Argentine history.”

The president confirmed the official in his role, following rumors that he might be replaced by Federico Sturzenegger in a later stage of the government. In this regard, he confirmed that the economist and author of the Bases Law will take up a new Ministry related to economic modernization and spared no praise: “He is one of the brightest economists on the planet.”

Furthermore, he indicated that both ministers will be able to coexist in their roles, ruling out any friction between them. “Here there is a boss, and that boss is me, and besides, I am an economist. No one is going to violate Toto’s achievements. No one. No one is going to touch Caputo’s ass here, and anyone who does, I’ll cut their hand off,” he declared.

On another note, he denied that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is asking Caputo for a devaluation to pursue a new agreement for the release of funds. “It’s false that the IMF is asking Caputo to devalue,” he stated during a television interview.

Later on, he considered that he is achieving another of his campaign objectives: lowering inflation. “In five months, we’ve brought inflation down from 17,000% to 50%,” he specified in the interview and added, “Everything related to core inflation, that is, adjusted for seasonal and regulated factors, is at zero.”
