Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange, has partnered with Kyrgyzstan’s National Agency for Investments to promote crypto adoption through payments infrastructure and blockchain education. This is in line with Kyrgyzstan’s growing focus on digital innovation and modernization.

On May 4, during the first meeting of the Council for the Development of Digital Assets, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov confirmed the country’s partnership with Binance, following the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on April 3. The MoU outlines a national vision to integrate blockchain into public and private sectors.

“I met Binance founder Changpeng Zhao in Cholpon-Ata,” President Japarov said. “Our partnership is a big step forward for Kyrgyzstan and the region.”

Binance Pay in Kyrgyzstan

A key part of the partnership is the launch of Binance Pay in Kyrgyzstan. This will allow consumers and merchants to send and receive crypto payments, making financial transactions faster and borderless.

Key points:

  • Infrastructure Development: Binance Pay for digital payments with crypto assets.

  • Cross-Border Flow: To facilitate regional trade and remittances.

  • Merchant Empowerment: Businesses can accept crypto as a payment method.

This will benefit Kyrgyzstan’s large migrant workforce who send remittances home – over $2.7 billion in 2022, according to World Bank. Crypto payments can reduce fees and processing time and increase financial inclusion.

Blockchain Education and Policy Support

Binance Academy will work with Kyrgyz academic and regulatory bodies to design blockchain, virtual assets and cybersecurity training for:

  • Government officials and policymakers

  • Financial institutions and regulators

  • General public and students

To boost digital literacy and create a blockchain-ready workforce. Binance will also provide regulatory consulting and technical support to help Kyrgyzstan build a compliant digital asset ecosystem.

Notably, this partnership comes as Kyrgyzstan has recently amended its constitution to explore a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). The “digital som” has been granted legal tender status for pilot testing this year and full adoption by 2026.

By partnering with Binance, Kyrgyzstan is at the forefront of blockchain in Central Asia, showing a forward-looking approach to finance and education.
