The company recently purchased 2,205 BTC for $238 million, raising its total holdings to 15,555 BTC. This move further strengthens Metaplanet’s position as the fifth-largest corporate Bitcoin holder in the world.

The purchase is part of a broader treasury strategy funded by bond issuances and stock warrants. In June alone, Metaplanet acquired over 2,300 BTC through multiple transactions. The firm aims to reach 30,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and is targeting 210,000 BTC by 2027.

Metaplanet now holds more Bitcoin than companies like Tesla and Galaxy Digital. Only four firms rank above it in total BTC holdings: Strategy, Marathon Digital, Twenty-One Capital, and Riot Platforms. Metaplanet’s year-to-date Bitcoin yield exceeds 400 percent, highlighting the success of its long-term approach.

The company’s stock performance has also benefited from this strategy. Since its pivot to Bitcoin, Metaplanet’s shares have seen a steady increase, reflecting growing investor confidence. The firm views Bitcoin as a hedge against inflation and a core component of its financial future.

In the broader market, institutional interest in Bitcoin continues to grow. While some large holders have sold off their positions, companies like Metaplanet are stepping in to absorb supply. This shift indicates a transition from speculative trading to strategic, long-term accumulation by corporations.

Furthermore, Metaplanet’s approach offers a useful model. The firm is using traditional financial tools to gain significant exposure to Bitcoin while maintaining a clear long-term vision. Its transparency in reporting yield and holdings provides a framework for other firms considering a similar move.

As corporate adoption of Bitcoin accelerates, brokers will play a crucial role in advising clients. Understanding the motivations and structures behind these acquisitions is essential in helping investors build balanced portfolios that include digital assets as a core component of their strategy.
