Quick Update on French Industrial Production & Trade Balance

The INSEE released a couple of economic events for the French economy – Industrial Production and Trade Balance.

Industrial Production – Reports reveal that the level of output increased in the manufacturing industry (+1.0% in January 2019, after +0.4% in December 2018). While the whole industry remains at +1.3% after stability.

Manufacturing production edged lower over the last three months (−0.3%). While the industry as a whole faces a slowdown of −0.4%.

Trade Balance – The Ministry for the Economy and Finance reported a slight improvement in the French trade deficit. This time the trade deficit stands at -4.2B vs. the forecast of -4.9B.
