Irish Border Issue in Brexit Discussions Could Risk Trade Deals with the US for the EU and UK: US Congressman
According to a news report on Reuters, Democratic Congressman Richard Neal has remarked that the Irish issue with regards to Brexit could possibly threaten a trade deal between the EU and the US.
The Congressman issued these statements during a visit to Northern Ireland on Wednesday. He also added that if any Brexit agreement undermines the Northern Ireland 1998 peace agreement, it could also pose a risk to any future trade deals between the US and Britain.
The EU continues to insist that it will not agree to any Brexit deal that affects infrastructure on the border between Ireland and Northern Ireland, even though some British politicians urge Brussels to go soft on this issue. British PM May continues to hold discussions with the opposition to garner support for her Brexit deal to pass through the Parliament.
