US President’s State Visit to the UK, Day 2: What’s on PM May’s Agenda?
On Tuesday, British PM Theresa May is likely to call for stronger economic cooperation between the US and UK when she meets with US President Donald Trump. The US is Britain’s single largest trading partner and both countries have been interested to open up their markets to encourage free trade since long.
While Theresa May continues to insist on fair trade and free, open markets, Trump’s recent moves to impose tariffs on multiple countries is a cause for concern worldwide. It will be interesting to see how this meeting between the two world leaders pans out over the course of the day.
PM May is set to meet with business leaders from 10 British and American businesses at St. James’ Palace, including BAE Systems, GlaxoSmithKline, National Grid, Barclays, JP Morgan, Lockheed Martin, and more later during the day.
