Tensions are definitely building up in US-Iran tensions, with Trump stating on Monday that Iran would be met with “great force” if it targets American concerns in the Middle East region. Trump also remarked, “I think Iran would be making a very big mistake if they did anything”.

The US government suspects Shi’ite militants were behind the recent rocket attack on Baghdad’s Green Zone – a highly secure area where government buildings and embassies are based. Fortunately, the rocket attack caused no casualties.

US government sources, along with their European counterparts, suspect that Shi’ite militias located in Yemen or Iraq were responsible for the armed drone attacks on Saudi oil pumping stations as well as the possible sabotage of shipping vessels off the coast of UAE.

The incidents come in the wake of Trump’s decision to end sanction waivers and prevent Iran from exporting crude oil. The US has also unilaterally withdrawn from a 2015 nuclear deal signed among Iran and other world leaders.
