Investors are watching Ripple (XRP) for a break through important resistance levels, as the cryptocurrency shows new indications of resiliency following months of consolidation and regulatory uncertainty.

Ripple Pauses After Explosive 2024 Surge

After skyrocketing from around $0.50 in November 2024 to a record-breaking high of over $3.40 by mid-January 2025, XRP has spent much of the opening months of 2025 in a consolidation phase. This extraordinary 780% rally was fueled largely by Ripple’s courtroom win against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which lifted a longstanding regulatory overhang.

Since then, the pace of XRP’s rally has moderated, mirroring a broader cooling of risk appetite across global markets in Q1 2025. The price retraced below $1.65 in early April before recovering and regaining ground above the $2 level.

Renewed Interest Driven by ETF Hopes and Whale Accumulation

Investor interest is beginning to pick back up as May progresses. Optimism is being stoked by speculation about a U.S.-listed XRP spot ETF, especially following Brazil’s approval of one in April. All eyes are now on the SEC’s closed-door meeting scheduled for May 8, where the agency might choose to drop its appeal of Judge Analisa Torres’ 2023 decision — a development that could remove a key obstacle to ETF approval.

In the meantime, the SEC has extended the evaluation period for Franklin Templeton’s XRP ETF filing by 45 days, lining up with a major litigation milestone. While regulatory delays have taken some steam out of the market, long-term optimism around a greenlight for the ETF remains elevated.

Key Support Levels Hold, but Breakout Still Pending

Despite encouraging signs, XRP remains capped near the $2.50 resistance zone. A confirmed breakout above that level is likely needed to spark the next leg higher. That said, strong technical support — notably from the 20-week simple moving average — and renewed buying by large holders signal that the recent pullback may be losing steam.

Ripple Weekly Chart – 20-Week SMA Remains Intact as Key Support

A sustained push above $2.50 could see XRP testing the $3 region again, with long-term projections still pointing toward $10 by the end of 2025 if ETF approval and favorable legal outcomes materialize.

Ripple Expands Globally, Secures Middle East Foothold

Adding to the positive momentum, Ripple became the first blockchain firm licensed by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) as of May 1. The license allows Ripple to operate fully in the United Arab Emirates, a country responsible for $40 billion in remittance flows and over $400 billion in annual trade. Since establishing a regional office in Dubai in 2020, Ripple’s Middle East customer base now accounts for 20% of its global clientele, underscoring the Gulf’s growing importance as a blockchain hub.

Conclusion: Can a Ripple ETF Open the Door for XRP to Reach $10 by End of 2025?

While regulatory uncertainty in the U.S. remains a key overhang, Ripple’s expanding global presence, strong technical positioning, and the prospect of an XRP spot ETF continue to generate significant interest. Should legal and regulatory hurdles clear in the coming weeks, XRP may not only reclaim the $3 level but also embark on its much-anticipated path toward $10.
