Boris Johnson refused the lock-downs at first, which was the right thing to do, since we are not seeing any major spikes now that the country has been reopened for about two months. So, there was no reason to kill the economy since lock-downs didn’t tackle the virus, instead, we were seeing a lot more cases during lock-down than what we are seeing now. But BoJo closed the country after he got sick, although he is promising that they will try to avoid anymore lock-downs. Below are his comments:

Boris Johnson Commenting on Coronavirus

  • Seeing signs of second virus wave in some other European countries
  • We had to take swift, decisive action on Spain quarantine decision
  • We will continue to take action where it is necessary
  • Always looking for ways to mitigate the impact of quarantine measures
Well, the situation in the UK may be a bit calmer for now but as the economy reopens you can sort of bet that the odds are the virus numbers will pick up again – especially with regional travel being allowed at this point in time. In any case, Johnson had warned that there could be a possibility of a secondary wave of infections in the UK as such but gave some assurance to the business crowd that the government will do what it can to avoid a strict lock-down again.
