The new trading week has started with all the attention on Silver.

Of course, last week it was Gamestop and now the Reddit driven crowd appear to be turning their focus to Silver.

The belief is that there is a huge shortage of physical silver in the world and a short squeeze in the likes of the silver ETF SLV, would force physical delivery of something that is difficult to find.

As we know, money used to be backed by the likes of Gold and precious metals and the Governments of the world used to hold large amounts. As they moved towards fiat currencies that occurred over the last 50 years or more, these supplies have been sold off. Now there is a shortage so forcing physical delivery or at least be physically backed in an ETF, means upward pressure on prices and a lot of companies/people in trouble.

But, just like Gamestop I’m still not convinced as to what is really going on here. There’s so much disinformation happening around the globe at the moment, it could be argued things have gone crazy.

That said, I am very bullish on both GOLD and SILVER purely because of the state of the monetary system. As many understand, the Private Central Banking System, which holds the world to ransom in many ways, does appear to be on its last legs. The central banks are printing money as fast as they can and this is simply devaluing currency and making real assets valuable. Precious metals are scarce and have been a key to the monetary system in the past.

We still haven’t seen Gold break out just yet, but on the flip side, we do know that Silver is at a historical low compared to the price of Gold. Silver also has quite a bit more utility than Gold.

So I am bullish on both, but not for the same reasons as the Reddit crowd.
