Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni has requested President Javier Milei to speak at this meeting on artificial intelligence, as confirmed by a high-level source from the Casa Rosada to Ámbito within the framework of the G7 meeting.

The G7 brings together, in addition to the host country, the United States, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and Canada. The meeting will take place between June 13 and 15 in the Apulia region.

The Italian Prime Minister’s request to Milei to lecture on AI before the G7 members is seen in official media as a new recognition of the president’s international projection, following the news that Milei was chosen among the 100 most influential people of 2024 by Time magazine.

The President stands out as “a global icon for the right,” according to this publication’s review. When he was campaigning, Milei was somewhat seen as an “eccentric” character. But his surprising victory in the elections and the results he is achieving in stabilizing the economy – the International Monetary Fund has just pointed out that the advances are “extraordinary” – lead political leaders aligned with capitalism worldwide to identify Milei as a model of liberal ideas, according to international analysts.

In this regard, they explain that Milei’s global projection must be understood in a context of growing geopolitical tensions. In broad strokes, they affirm that Western democracies are facing authoritarian regimes (particularly Russia, China, and Iran), not only diplomatically but also militarily – Ukraine, the Middle East.

Indeed, Time highlights the prominent personality of the president on a global level. Along with Milei, the publication recognized figures such as the winner of the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize, Narges Mohammadi; the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk; the Vice President of China, William Lai; the Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott; the Minister of Environment of Brazil, Marina Silva; and the Director of the CIA, William Burns.
