Texas Pecan Co. is recalling various nuts, snack mixes, seeds, and snack sticks in 1 Lb and 8 oz sizes, citing the potential to contain undeclared peanut, tree nuts, soy, milk, sesame, and wheat allergens, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The recall involves different types of Almonds, Brazils, Cashews, Filberts, Macadamias, Peanuts, Pecan, Pine Nuts, Pistachios, Pumpkin Seeds, Sunflower Seeds, Cheddar Sticks, Sesame Sticks, Corn Sticks, Walnut, Banana Chips, Blueberries, Coconut Chips, and Cranberries, among others.
The impacted products could have been bought at Texas Pecan retail location or thru its web site. The recall includes only the 1 lb and 8 oz items in clear poly bags with Texas Pecan label, under lot numbers ranging from 23200-23265 and 24001-24079.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to various tree nuts, peanuts, soy, milk, sesame and wheat may get serious or life threating allergic reaction if they consume these products.
However, the company noted that there have not been any reports of related illness or allergic reactions to any of the product ever purchased at the firm, which has been in business for over 40 years.
The recall was initiated after the Dallas Texas-based company was informed by the Texas Department of state and Health Services following a routine check. The department, after inspecting the packaging machine, decided that cross contamination was possible as its labels do states tree nut but each tree nut was not named individually. The packaging machine is cleaned properly, however, written documentation did not clearly state that.
The affected consumers are urged to either throw away the impacted products or return to Texas Pecan for a replacement or full refund.
In similar recalls, Chuao Chocolatier in early May called back a single production of select Potato Chip mini bar 11 gram as they may contain undeclared hazelnut.
New York-based Feel Good Foods in mid-April recalled Gluten-Free Plain and Everything flavored Cream Cheese Stuffed Mini Bagels for undeclared gluten, while New Haven, Connecticut-based Gracie’s Kitchen Inc. called back King Kullen broccoli cutlets for undeclared sesame and wheat allergens.
