BA: Boeing, General Electric Stock sink after Air India Crash

Boeing (NYSE:BA) stock price fell on Thursday after an Air India plane, believed to be a 787-8 Dreamliner, crashed after taking off from Ahmedabad, a city in western India, carrying 242 people. It is estimated that more than 200 people have died.
General Electric, which produces the GEnx-1B engines for the 787 Dreamliner, also experienced a significant decline.
Boeing’s chief, Kelly Ortberg, canceled his plans to attend the Paris Air Show next week, following the 787 8 Dreamliner crash in India. According to Ortberg, the business will assist the Indian Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau and the US National Transportation Safety Board in their investigations.
Air India confirmed that all but one of the 242 passengers on board the aircraft perished. 241 confirmed deaths from the plane alone are included in that number.
There were twelve crew members and 230 passengers on the flight. There were 169 Indians, 53 Britons, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian among the passengers. The airline reported that the sole survivor of the crash is a British national of Indian descent who is receiving medical attention in a hospital.
The Hindustan Times stated that his name is Vishwash Kumar Ramesh. He told his British relatives that he felt “fine” while speaking to them from his hospital bed. The head of surgery and professor at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, Dr. Rajnish Patel, stated that he was “not very critical” and may be released very soon.
