Semiconductor software firms Synopsys and Cadence stated the US government has lifted its export ban on chip-design software to China. In a statement, the California-based software company said, “Synopsys is working to restore access to the recently restricted products in China.”.
Cadence, its competitor, attested to the reversal of the export restrictions by the US Bureau of Industry and Security, which is part of the Department of Commerce. According to a Cadence representative, “We are in the process of restoring access to our software and technology to affected customers in compliance with US export laws.”
According to reports, on May 23, the US informed several chip design software companies that they needed to secure licenses before exporting products to China, including semiconductor chemicals and software. Siemens EDA and Amer are among the other software providers affected by the prohibition.
