Tether’s investment will help to expedite the research and development of Physical AI systems and edge AI solutions, as well as the industrial validation of the company’s humanoid platform, first production facility, and integration into the larger robotics ecosystem.
Tether’s investment maintains a pattern of sponsoring hardware and infrastructure projects outside of cryptocurrency, such as artificial intelligence, agriculture, and media as well as brain-computer interface technology, that are not related to its core stablecoin business.
Tether investing in Generative Bionics to Build Next-Gen Humanoids
Generative Bionics was founded in 2024 by researchers from the Italian Institute of Technology, where they had created over 60 humanoid prototypes over the previous two decades.
According to the firm, 70 engineers from the Italian Institute of Technology have joined the company and are striving to translate their research into operational robots for manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, and retail contexts, introducing the “Made in Italy” logo to the humanoid robot industry.
Generative Bionics also stated that it intends to present its debut complete humanoid robot at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.
“Our mission is to build a future where intelligent humanoid robots collaborate on a daily basis with people, amplifying human cognitive and physical potential,” Generative Bionics CEO and Co-Founder Daniele Pucci said in a statement.
Tether Accelerates AI Strategy While Securing ADGM Approval for USDT
In terms of AI, it was stated in mid-November that Tether was considering making a $1.15 billion investment in German AI robots startup Neura.
Tether also mentioned some of the other AI projects it has backed in its statement.
This includes investments in brain-computer interfaces via Blackrock Neurotech and recent AI initiatives such as Tether’s partnership with Northern Data and Rumble to set up a 20,000-GPU global compute network for open, privacy-preserving AI development, the company added.
Meanwhile, Tether’s USDT has achieved a major regulatory milestone in Abu Dhabi after being officially recognized as an accepted fiat-referenced token within the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). This designation allows licensed institutions in the financial zone to offer regulated services such as trading, custody, and settlement using USDT.
