According to reports from China’s official news agency, Xinhua, some Chinese companies are exploring ways to import new agricultural products from the US. If this is the case, it could become the first step of progress in negotiations between US and China towards resolving their trade conflict.
Chinese businesses have expressed their interest in buying crops as well as agricultural products from US-based exporters and have also applied to get tariffs lifted on these products as well. China is hopeful that the US meets it halfway in this endeavor.
After a trade war that has been going on for a year, the two countries’ Presidents agreed for a truce during the G20 summit as talks resumed once more. As part of the truce, not sides had agreed to stop raising tariffs on each other’s products until a trade deal was finalized.
Will this move progress towards a face-to-face meeting between US and China trade teams?
