Dow futures are undergoing a sharp structural rotation away from overextended semiconductor and mega-cap tech stocks into the “real economy” defensive and cyclical sectors like industrials, energy, and consumer defensives.

The index is under slight corrective pressure in the short term (-0.78% on the last closing session), marked by notable profit-taking in major pillars of the market such as Goldman Sachs (-2.76%) or Microsoft (-1.82%).
The major psychological support is now around 52,000 points. If this level breaks, the market could try to fill the gaps towards 51,000 points. On the upside, the immediate technical resistance is near its yearly high of 53,656 points.
While early Q2 earnings are generally solid, investors are aggressively punishing companies that fail to justify massive capital expenditures, particularly in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
With June headline CPI sitting at 3.5% —above the Federal Reserve’s target—and a cooling but tight labor market, the Fed continues to maintain a restrictive policy posture.
Renewed friction between the US and Iran has pushed WTI crude oil prices up by nearly 5%, positioning the energy sector as a dominant defensive hedge.
The immediate outlook heavily depends on whether upcoming late-July mega-cap tech earnings can stabilize sentiment, with the highly anticipated FOMC decision on July 28–29.
