Quick overview

  • XRP is consolidating around $1.10, benefiting from institutional interest and Ripple's expanding payment system.
  • Ripple Payments is now operational in over 90 markets, enhancing cross-border payment efficiency for banks and fintechs.
  • The introduction of the RLUSD stablecoin is positively impacting Ripple's ecosystem, providing liquidity and stability for payments.
  • Despite strong fundamentals, macroeconomic challenges like rising Treasury yields and inflation remain significant headwinds for XRP.

XRP started this week trading around $1.10, consolidating after its strong rally this month. XRP positively responds to growing institutional interest, increasing Ripple Payments Activity, and more development on the XRP Ledger. Other cryptocurrency markets show caution. Wider cryptocurrency markets seem to be responding to increasing US Treasury yields and a strong US dollar.

Unlike many cryptocurrencies that respond to retail interest, XRP seems to respond more to the development of Ripple’s enterprise payment and tokenization of the financial infrastructure and systems.

Ripple Payments Continue Global Expansion

Ripple Payments seems to be one of the strongest long-term growth factors of XRP value. Ripple Payments is now live in over 90 payout markets. It allows banks and payment service providers to do cross-border payment in a matter of seconds.

More and more international payment service providers, banks, and fintechs are able to use the Ripple Payments System in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. Ripple Payments is getting widespread use in regions that demand advanced solutions for international payments that are faster and cheaper.

While not all of these payments use XRP, the more institutional payment service providers use the Ripple payments system, the more they will be familiar and comfortable integrating and using the XRP Ledger.

RLUSD and value of RLUSD

Ripple’s RL USD stablecoin is a new important part of the Ripple ecosystem. Ripple designed both token to serve different use cases, and RLUSD is a better stablecoin for liquidity and payments than XRP.

RLUSD offers price stability for payments. On-demand foreign exchange and cross-border settlement liquidity is provided by XRP. The growing adoption of RLUSD has a positive impact on the rest of Ripple’s infrastructure, providing greater opportunities to institutions that are currently utilizing the XRP ecosystem.

XRP Ledger Moves Beyond Payments

XRPLedger development is underway and building momentum. XRP is focusing on Real World Assets, custody, DeFi, and programmable finance. Ripple believes that the tokenization of financial assets such as bonds and funds offers one of the biggest opportunities for long-term market growth.

The speed and low cost of the XRP Ledger will continue to attract institutions for building on blockchain. Though large-scale adoption is still perhaps some time away, the work that is being done and the pilots that are underway continue to reinforce the XRP Ledger’s growth in the long term.

Institutional Adoption Continues Improving

XRP is attracting institutional users and has some of the best foundational support in this regard. Ripple’s clients, who are primarily banks and financial institutions, are reliant on the lower costs of settlement and improved liquidity that are offered by the Ripple network.

The market is primarily focused on regulated financial systems, which favors Ripple, because of their focus on serving financial institutions. The emerging regulatory frameworks are also allowing institutions to test and implement blockchain systems for payments.

ETF Optimism Supports Sentiment

Many investors keep their eyes on the possible introduction of regulated investment product options for XRP. Many asset managers show interest in XRP-based exchange-traded products in the jurisdictions where they will be permitted.

There is no guaranteed approval, but the success of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs has bolstered the belief that other digital assets may eventually receive broader vehicles for institutional investments. This would facilitate custody and compliance for traditional investors, and would further institutional investment in XRP.

Macro Conditions Remain the Biggest Headwind

Despite improvements in XRP-focused fundamentals, broader macroeconomic challenges remain. With Brent crude above $90 per barrel, there is concern that inflation will again rise. This has caused the U.S. treasuries to yield more, and the dollar to gain strength, making risk assets, including cryptocurrencies, less attractive. Although XRP offers long-term potential with enterprise adoption, the competition in digital assets will always be impacted by macro finance conditions.

Competition Continues Increasing

Ripple operates in an especially competitive environment. Along with traditional finance, from Ethereum and Solana to other ecosystems, are all vying for various institutional and tokenization use cases involving payments.

Ripple maintains one of its strongest advantages over the competition with its long histories and established delegations with various banks and other regulated financial institutions.

What to Watch This Week

Numerous potential market movers can be expected in the following week. Major earnings from Alphabet and Tesla could impact the level of risk concerning technology and crypto markets. We can expect Jobless Claims on Thursday, Flash PMI on Friday, and statements before the Federal Reserve’s meeting on July 28 and 29, which will also be observed. The continuing rise in Treasury yields could continue to exert downward pressure on crypto, despite improving fundamentals.

XRP Fundamental Outlook

XRP begins the week with positive long-term fundamentals. There is a continuing global expansion of Ripple’s centralized payments scheme, which promotes the growing adoption of RLUSD along with institutional interest, and the XRP ledger is evolving beyond cross-border payments and crypto to include tokenization and enterprise blockchains.

The biggest risks are all external, and to a lesser degree, remain within the crypto mandates. Rapidly rising Treasury yields and the US dollar combined with a tightening monetary policy are all continuing to reduce the appetite for riskier assets. If macro conditions stabilize and Ripple continues along its enterprise path, XRP should remain positioned for potential benefit from institutional interest in enterprise blockchains.

The first level of support is the increasing trendline at roughly $1.089. If the price drops below that level, the forecast will shift to $1.060 and then $1.032, breaking the bullish pattern.

With XRP above $1.089, the most likely outcome is bullish sentiment. If XRP breaks the price of $1.126, it will confirm the bullish move.
