Retail sales posted some major declines during February and March in China, at the height of the coronavirus and they kept declining until July, although the decline was slowing considerably. In August they finally turned positive and have kept increasing since then. In fact, the pace of the increase has increased as well, putting sales to the pre-coronavirus levels. Change in the total value of sales at the retail level. Released monthly, excluding Feb, about 15 days after the month ends. Although this indicators tends to have a muted impact on markets because the Chinese economy is not heavily reliant on consumer spending.
