The US stocks closed mixed as the fourth-quarter earnings reporting season started. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DOW added 32 points (+0.1%) to 28939, while the S&P 500 SPX declined 4 points (-0.2%) to 3283 and the Nasdaq Composite was down 22 points (-0.2%) to 9251.

Shares in Technology Hardware & Equipment (-1%), Software & Services (-0.58%) and Real Estate (-0.49%) came under pressure, while Consumer Durables & Apparel (+0.84%), Transportation (+0.82%) and Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology & Life Sciences (+0.74%) stocks outperformed.
