Donald Trump Expected to Speak at Nashville Conference on Bitcoin
The former president of the United States, Donald Trump, is set to speak in Nashville on July 27th at the Bitcoin 2024 conference.
The organizers said that they had already lined him up for the conference as the primary headliner. Trump is deep into a presidential race against incumbent US President Joe Biden, and during this election cycle, Trump has made it very clear that he is a strong supporter of cryptocurrency and Bitcoin in particular.
Trump announced early on in his campaign that he would allow campaign contributions to be sent via Bitcoin, and he has said that if he is elected, he will ensure Bitcoin is safeguarded. He has denounced what he sees as the Democratic party’s efforts to hold back and regulate blockchain currencies.
The cryptocurrency sector has been campaigning hard on its own, trying to draw out statements of support from the presidential candidates and other politicians. As regulators are cracking down on cryptocurrency and new laws are being prepared to go into effect, the crypto industry is looking for support from whichever governmetn will end up in power when the votes are counted in November.
What Trump’s Support Will Mean for Bitcoin
Bitcoin already has Trump’s support, and if he is elected, that will certainly be a blow on the side of Bitcoin and the wider crypto industry. Trump has been far more vocal about any support for crypto this election cycle than Biden has.
Trump has been advocating for extensive freedom for the industry and for limited regulation. If he is elected and hold to those campaign promises, then Bitcoin should be able to function pretty much as it is right now- freely and with little inhibition. If Biden is elected, the picture for the freedom of Bitcoin in the future is a little murkier.
