Is Britain Leaving or Staying Within the EU?

Boris Johnson, the most likely candidate to take over as the next British prime minister, continues to maintain his fondness for a no-deal Brexit. In a recent interview with the BBC, Johnson remarked that he could get both sides of the parliament to support such a scenario.

Johnson believes that he can threaten to execute a hard Brexit to get the EU to remove the contentious issue of the Irish border backstop from the present Withdrawal Agreement. Even though he is currently in the lead, several senior Conservatives have cautioned against this strategy and said that they could potentially stop him from coming to power over this idea.

Meanwhile, Conservative party leader Jeremy Corbyn has expressed his support for a second referendum on Brexit, a move that former PM May had also brought out towards the end. And while the Labour Party had repeatedly turned down her Brexit deal, it will be harder to convince them on a no-deal Brexit that Johnson is in favor of.
