Anthropic PBC is in early discussions with investors to raise at least $30 billion in new funding, laying the groundwork for what may be its biggest funding round to date.

The Claude maker is in talks to raise additional funds at a valuation of over $900 billion, excluding the investment.

The round is anticipated to end by the end of this month. No term sheet has been signed, and the deal is not finalized. The unreported talks come at a time when Anthropic is pushing for increased fundraising due to the breakthrough success of its AI software.  Anthropic was debating whether to pursue a funding round.

The company has since talked to current backers about joining the new round. It’s unclear if Anthropic’s two recent significant financing agreements with Big Tech companies will be included in the next funding round. Google agreed to invest $10 billion in Anthropic at $350 billion,  the same amount that the company was valued at during a $30 billion funding round in February.

Alphabet Inc. -owned business intends to contribute an additional $30 billion to Anthropic if the startup meets specific performance goals. Amazon. com, Inc. is also investing $5 billion at a  $350 billion valuation in Anthropic, with plans to add $20 billion in the future. Since its founding in 2021 by a group of former OpenAI employees, Anthropic has grown to become a prominent player in the AI industry. Anthropic has created several AI tools on how companies manage everything from cybersecurity to coding.
