Anthropic PBC was valued at $965 billion after raising $65 billion in a funding round, surpassing OpenAI’s valuation for the first time.

Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital led the funding, which was revealed on Thursday. According to people familiar with the situation, each of the lead investors contributed more than $2 billion. Sequoia chose not to respond.

Alphabet’s Google contributed several billion dollars to the round as part of an earlier pledge to invest up to $40 billion in Anthropic over time. Amazon. com, Inc. contributed $5 billion to the round as part of a previous commitment, according to a blog post from Anthropic.
