Cryptocurrency Market Ticks Up as Week Begins
The cryptocurrency market remains elevated with mixed numbers today after a mixed economic report from last week.
Early morning trading across the cryptocurrency market is slow as Monday’s trading begins. Bitcoin (BTC) is back under $70K but still up for today by 0.10%.

Ripple (XRP) is up as well, gaining 0.52% over the last day to take the coin to $0.4968 (XRP/USD). Ethereum (ETH) has dropped, though, with a decline of 0.60% for the last 24 hours. ETH is down to $3,671 (ETH/USD), which is still tantalizingly close to the $4,000 mark.
Bitcoin has lost some ground over the weekend, where it previously was hanging out above $70K and making its way to a new record high. The coin dropped below $70K on Friday and has stayed below that level since then. As trading heats up today, though, we could see a push past the $70K mark.
Overall, the crypto market is elevated, with recent highs recorded across much of the market and meme coins making a strong resurgence. Public sentiment is very much on the side of crypto, thanks partly to the SEC approving spot ether ETFs. In the next few weeks, we should see some of those ETF offerings come to market.
Bitcoin’s climb back to $70,000 has brought the market together, as many investors want to see that leading coin climb higher, since it pulls much of the market with it when it succeeds. Even though Bitcoin has lost some of its recent ground, it could make that back very quickly and surpass the $71,250 mark that it has not passed in months.
Healthy Economic Signals
The crypto market is doing well partly because of positive economic news. The jobs market can claim some progress toward reduced inflation with a report on Friday declaring that 272,000 new jobs were added to the US markets. The jobs data was slightly mixed, though, with the unemployment rate up by 4%.
The consumer price index is down slightly, having fallen 0.1% to 3.4% for May. Inflation is still elevated, well above the 2% target that the Federal Reserve wants to see. However, the Fed will talk this week about their decision to cut or not cut interest rates.
Watch the economic data closely to see indications that the crypto market may continue to rise or might start to turn around.
