XRP Price Outlook: Can Ripple’s Institutional Growth Offset a Bearish Technical Setup?
XRP goes into the weekend with improving fundamentals even though the chart has deteriorated. During the week, Ripple continued to expand...
Quick overview
- XRP is experiencing improving fundamentals with the launch of Ripple Mint and growing adoption of RLUSD, despite a weak price action.
- Ripple Mint enhances institutional payments by allowing clients to mint and manage RLUSD, which is gaining traction with a circulation of approximately $1.51 billion.
- Ripple has received a full Crypto Asset Service Provider license in Europe, enabling it to offer regulated services across the European Economic Area.
- The upcoming Federal Reserve meeting is expected to influence market sentiment, with XRP's technical outlook appearing neutral to bearish.
XRP goes into the weekend with improving fundamentals even though the chart has deteriorated. During the week, Ripple continued to expand its institutional payments platform with Ripple Mint, expanded adoption of RLUSD and more use of the XRP Ledger. The strategy remains to become a regulated global payments platform.
The price action has remained weak ahead of next week’s Federal Reserve meeting and has made the market a bit more risk averse.
Ripple Mint Strengthens Institutional Payments
Ripple’s biggest news this week was the introduction of Ripple Mint, an institutional payments platform that enables clients to mint, redeem and manage RLUSD programmatically.
Ripple Mint allows financial institutions to:
- Mint and redeem RLUSD directly.
- Automate their treasury operations.
- Integrate stablecoin payments.
- Leverage multichain liquidity.
The platform should accelerate institutional adoption of RLUSD and drive more activity on XRP Ledger. Management continues to say XRP and RLUSD work together. XRP facilitates the bridge liquidity and RLUSD is the regulated settlement asset.
RLUSD Surpasses $1.5 Billion
Ripple’s stablecoin business kept gaining traction during July. Its latest reserve attestation stated:
- RLUSD circulation was approximately $1.51 billion.
- RLUSD reserve assets were approximately $1.62 billion.
- The RLUSD reserve was backed by cash, cash equivalents and short-term US Treasuries at 100%.
The stablecoin, issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, a New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS)-regulated trust company, is one of the most regulated US Dollar-backed stablecoins in existence. The strong growth points to growing interest in regulated stablecoins.
Europe Opens New Growth Opportunities
The expansion continues in Europe, where Ripple recently received its full Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license under the new European Union (EU) Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework. The authorization enables Ripple to provide regulated crypto services in all 30 European Economic Area (EEA) countries. Combined with Ripple’s Electronic Money Institution license, the company is able to offer:
- Ripple Payments
- Digital asset custody
- Liquidity solutions
- RLUSD services
to banks and other financial institutions across Europe.
XRP Ledger Continues Improving
Development work on XRP Ledger was active this week. The deployment of XRP Ledger version 3.2.0 has been adopted by around 89% of default UNL validators, which comfortably clears the activation target.
The update includes:
- Reduced costs for the node operators
- Better network stability
- Upgrades to vault functionality
- Improvements in the Lending feature
- More security upgrades
These updates keep XRPL on track for large institutional payment flows and tokenized securities.
Fed Meeting Becomes the Key Near-Term Catalyst
While Ripple news remains positive, the Federal Reserve meeting next week (July 28-29) is likely to drive near-term sentiment across cryptos. Rising bond yields and a stronger U.S. dollar are still keeping investors away from digital assets, as any sign that the Fed will keep rates higher for longer could also be negative for the crypto market in general.
Traders should also monitor:
- More RLUSD adoption updates.
- Ripple Payments partnership announcements.
- XRP Ledger ecosystem updates.
- Stablecoin market development.
- Institutional payment flows.
Technical Outlook: Bears Test Key Support
In technical terms, XRP sets the stage for next week at a relative disadvantage. The asset has slipped to about $1.093, with price action that closed both below the 50-day exponential moving average (EMA) ($1.1136) and 200-day EMA ($1.1194), and under the lower boundary of its multi-week symmetrical triangle.

Momentum has weakened too, with the RSI slipping to 37, showing rising selling pressure but not oversold territory. Support immediately sits at $1.089. A break down would open the door to $1.0595, followed by $1.0318. Bulls must first clear the $1.1136 resistance to make progress, with resistance then at $1.1260 and $1.1563 before the broader uptrend can return.
Bottom Line
Ripple is going into the last week of July with some of the strongest institutional fundamentals in the crypto space. The launch of Ripple Mint, RLUSD’s $1.51 billion in circulation, full authorization under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) law and further development of the XRP Ledger show the company is continuing its march toward becoming a global regulated payments infrastructure.
In the short term, however, the macroeconomic environment will largely shape the outlook for both crypto in general, and XRP in particular. This week’s Fed meeting will have a strong impact on investor sentiment, while the technical picture has turned neutral to bearish after the break of the support level.
If the pace of institutional client acquisition continues and RLUSD sees accelerating uptake, Ripple’s case to be a good mid- and long-term holding remains in place. In the shorter term, however, the question will be whether $1.089 holds as support, or if broader weakness in the markets takes it down again.
