Ethereum Showing Cracks as RSI Bounces Fail to Hold

Quick overview

  • Ethereum shows a temporary bounce from oversold RSI conditions, but the overall trend remains bearish.
  • The price has broken below a key bullish trend line and is struggling to clear the 50-day EMA, which is acting as strong resistance.
  • Current support levels around $1,700-$1,650 are critical, as breaking them could lead to further declines.
  • A genuine recovery will only occur if Ethereum can decisively surpass the 50-day EMA, currently around $1,850.

Ethereum’s got some positive vibes coming from RSI oversold conditions bouncing back, but don’t get fooled – the bigger picture is ugly. Price broke below a key short-term bullish trend line and now trades below the 50-day EMA, which is acting as serious resistance. That combo kills any chance of a real recovery in the near term.

The RSI bounce off oversold territory normally signals a reversal setup. You get excited thinking a bounce is coming. Problem is ETH can’t even clear the 50-day EMA. Every attempt gets pushed back down. That moving average’s not just resistance anymore – it’s become the gatekeeper. Nothing rallies properly until price clears it.

Ethereum’s stuck in a corrective downtrend that’s been grinding lower for weeks. Breaking below that bullish trend line a few days ago was the signal that the correction’s accelerating. Now it’s not a “breather during an uptrend” anymore. It’s an actual reversal pattern.

The negative pressure keeps building. When price sits below the 50-day EMA, it means even medium-term momentum’s against you. People who bought on bounces are sitting underwater. New buyers don’t want to touch it when resistance is that obvious. You get a wall of sellers every time it rallies.

RSI shows something’s oversold but that doesn’t automatically mean a reversal. Oversold can stay oversold for weeks if selling pressure is structural. ETH’s got both technical resistance and negative momentum working against it. That’s a recipe for more downside.

The 50-day EMA currently sits around $1,850. Get price above that decisively and the bounce becomes credible. Until then, oversold RSI just means less immediate panic selling, not actual recovery. There’s a difference between a temporary relief bounce and a reversal. Right now we’re getting the former and fighting to avoid the latter.

Support levels down here around $1,700-$1,650 matter because they’re where previous rallies failed. Break those and you’re testing lower levels fast. But calling a recovery happens when ETH clears the 50-day EMA convincingly. Every spike into that resistance gets sold. That’s the pattern until something breaks it.
