China’s ambassador to London has warned that if the British government bans Huawei from developing 5G networks, it could impact the trade relationship between China and the UK. Ambassador Liu Xiaoming made these remarks while speaking to the BBC, adding that banning Huawei will send a “very bad message” to other Chinese businesses as well.

In April, the British National Security Council had decided to block Huawei from participating in developing all core parts of 5G networks, and to give it restricted access to the development of non-core parts.

The cabinet of senior ministers was to take a final call on this decision, but their meeting has been delayed due to Theresa May’s resignation from the PM post.
