Orbs released the first version of its oracle network in July 2018, allowing data to be securely fetched off-chain and verified on-chain, in an entirely decentralized fashion. The vision is to create broader interoperability between different blockchains and ecosystems. Having integrated with leading layer one and layer two chains—including Ethereum, Binance Chain, Polygon, Solana, Avalanche and Harmony—the Orbs blockchain ecosystem has expanded to include several dozen decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms and protocols.

Orbs has announced a new partnership with Fantom, an infrastructure platform for high-performance distributed applications. With its high-performance, smart contract language and novated economic model, Fantom will allow Orbs to become even more interoperable with other blockchains. Implementing Fantom will give Orbs nodes a boost of speed and security while also providing the Orbs Pillar Wallet with an additional, powerful DeFi application.

Fantom is one of the rapidly growing DeFi space protocols, boasting more than $12 billion total value locked (TVL). It ranks fourth, following the top three, Ethereum, BSC and Terra. Fantom’s native token FTM has proudly made it to the top 40 cryptocurrencies, based on reports. 

The integration of crypto-infrastructure project Orbs into the Fantom ecosystem will strengthen the position of the ORBS token as a multi-chain asset with broad applicability. This follows the recent announcement by Fantom – a decentralized platform that provides various financial services on public chains – that it will work with Orbs to develop cross-chain capabilities.
