Roland Foods Recalls Roland Tahini For Salmonella Concern

New York-based Roland Foods, LLC is recalling a specific production code of Roland Tahini (100% Ground Sesame Seeds), according to the U.S Food and Drug Administration or FDA.

The product has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The recalled tahini comes in 16 oz package, with Batch Number P024581, Production Code X0419, UPC Number 10041224701509, and a Best By Date of October 19, 2024. The impacted products were distributed to many states through retail stores and foodservice outlets by the company from September 2023 through January 2024.

The recall was initiated when the result of a routine sampling program by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development revealed that the product tested positive for Salmonella.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Healthy people experience symptoms like fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain upon infection.

So far, the company has not received any report of illnesses related to the impacted products.

The agency is urging customers to discard the called-back product.

In similar recalls, Mount Olive, New Jersey-based Fratelli Beretta USA, Inc., earlier this month, recalled an undetermined amount of ready-to-eat or RTE meat charcuterie products as the Coppa in it may be under processed resulting in a potential contamination with foodborne pathogens including salmonella.

In January, Fratelli Beretta USA, Inc. recalled around 11,097 pounds of Busseto Foods brand ready-to-eat charcuterie meat products over potential salmonella contamination concerns.
