Trump Backing Crypto As His Presidential Campaign Heats Up

Donald Trump is focusing on his presidential bid as the frontrunner for the Republican party, and he keeps issuing strong statements in support of cryptocurrency.

Trump Wants to Pull Out of Phase One Deal?

Trump said at a meeting on Wednesday that campaign donations could be made in crypto when asked about it. He said that if that is not possible right now, he will make sure it is possible. His continued support of cryptocurrency sets him apart from sitting President Joe Biden.

Trump has been very vocal over the years about his support of various crypto coins. His recent statements on crypto have propelled the minor coin Jeo Boden (BODEN) to gain nearly 12% today. That is a memecoin that uses an intentional misspelling of Biden’s name, and Trump commented on the value of the coin in a question and answer session on social media platform X.

How Trump Support Affects Cryptocurrency

A lot of the cryptocurrency community is throwing their support behind Donald Trump, including crypto mover and shaker Elon Musk, whose comments have helped propel Dogecoin (DOGE) into the top of the crypto charts.

There is a strong sentiment among the crypto community that having Trump as president would help the crypto industry. Biden’s stance on crypto has been much more understated, on the other hand. President Biden was responsible for killing a controversial bill that would place Bitcoin and other cryptos under the guardianship of the SEC. But on the whole, Biden is not a pro-crypto as Trump has been.

Another presidential hopeful, Robert F. Kennedy, is already accepting cryptocurrency donations to his campaign. He says that if he is elected president, he will put the “US budget on blockchain”.

Legal protection of cryptocurrency is a hot button issue in the industry, and there are constant fears that the government will restrict or highly regulate the industry in the near future, crippling its freedom.
