Cave Junction, Oregon-based Taylor’s Sausage, Inc. is recalling around 74 pounds of ready-to-eat Landjaeger sausage products citing misbranding and undeclared soy, a known allergen, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service or FSIS.
The recall involves 14.4 oz. vacuum-packed packages containing 12 pieces of “TAYLOR’S Sausage Hot LANDJAEGER” with lot code “23342-2” and use-by date “12 8 25”.
The shelf-stable, ready-to-eat Landjaeger sausages were produced on December 8, 2023, and packaged on December 19, 2023.
The impacted products bear establishment number “EST. 6172” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in California and Oregon.
The recall was initiated after FSIS personnel, during routine FSIS in-plant verification activities, observed that soy, a known allergen, was being used as an ingredient, but was not declared on the finished product label.
However, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products so far.
Over concern that some products may be in consumers’ pantries or refrigerators, the agency urged them to throw away or return to the place of purchase.
In similar recalls, Gonzales, Louisiana -based Bonneval Foods, LLC in mid- June called back all barbecue pork skin product due to misbranding and undeclared wheat and soy, known allergens.
