Ethereum Pushes Toward $2,000 as ETF Inflows Return and Fed Decision Nears

Ethereum has had a quietly decent stretch of late. The token was trading near $1,965 on Monday, sitting inside a range of $1,860 to $1,968 that has held for the better part of the past week. It is not a breakout by any measure, but it is a far cry from where ETH was sitting in late June when it bottomed near $1,550.

What has changed is the flow picture. Spot Ethereum ETFs pulled in around $105 million in net inflows during the week of July 13 to 17, the strongest weekly total since April. That came while bitcoin funds were still seeing money go the other way. Five straight sessions of ETF buying totaling more than $600 million were reported through July 21, and that kind of sustained institutional interest tends to show up in price before it shows up in headlines.

ETH also broke above a downward trend line that had been in place since August 2025, a technical development that got attention from chart-watchers even if the broader market hasn’t fully responded to it yet.

The Fed is the other thing everyone’s watching. The two-day FOMC meeting starting today is widely expected to end with rates held at the current 3.50% to 3.75% range. That expectation has been building for weeks, and positioning across crypto has reflected it. Bitcoin options traders accumulated $2.5 billion in call spreads targeting $72,000 before month-end, much of it tied directly to the Fed outcome.

The technical picture is split depending on which timeframe you look at. On the four-hour chart, the 50-day moving average is rising and price is above it, a constructive short-term setup. On the daily chart it’s a different story, with the 50-day below price but falling, and the 200-day having turned lower since late June.

Closing July above $1,970 is the number analysts are focused on. That would confirm ETH has extended its monthly gains and cleared the 100-day exponential moving average that has been acting as the key upside target. Whether the Fed delivers the kind of non-event the market is pricing in will go a long way toward deciding if that happens.
