The first week of May looks set to be a really interesting time to follow the financial markets. There are a couple of reasons for this: firstly, with four months already behind us it is the start of the second third of the year. Secondly, it comes after two weeks of intensive news. The FED and the Bank of England have released important announcements which give us clues about their plans for helping the US and British economies. Meanwhile, recession signs have continued to come out from most of the leading markets.

 Daily Opportunity

In my opinion, the most interesting currencies to follow over the next couple of days – and some of the best opportunities to make money – are the U.S. Dollar, Australian Dollar, the British Pound and the Japanese Yen. As I see it, these currencies are going to create the best opportunities to earn money, although, currently, most financial analysts are having a hard time to decide whether to sell or buy. Most of these major currencies are at critical points in their recent trends, and it is still not clear in which direction the next trends will take them.

The American market shows continuing signs of recovery. It seems that their economy is slowly stepping out of the recession towards a brighter future. Many traders have continued to find the dollar to be the best investment option, due to its status as the reserve currency of the world, especially when most of the other markets are dealing with economic crisis and appear to be higher risk.

Despite all this, negative US reports from last week, along with positive sentiment on the other majors, has brought more sellers than buyers to the market. If this momentum continues, we might head towards a serious bearish trend on the Greenback.

The British Pound broke its 1.618 resistance a few days ago, and just when it seemed like it would keep strengthening it stopped. It will be interesting to follow its 30 minutes chart, to see whether it tests this critical point against the US Dollar.

 Daily Event

The Bank of Australia surprisingly decided to reduce interest rate to 3.75% from 4%, after a series of negative signs from the market. It seems like the Australian economy is fail to recover from the long recession which has attacked the Australian market. Reducing interest rates has an enormous impact on the relevant currency, and that's why the Aussie has reacted with a massive devaluation throughout the past 12 hours.
I will keep following the next to come economic news.
