AMD Stock Forecast

Quick overview

  • AMD's stock surged 7.9% to $543.10 following Microsoft's announcement to deploy AMD's Helios AI infrastructure across Azure.
  • The partnership with Microsoft enhances AMD's credibility as a full AI infrastructure provider, integrating various technologies into Azure.
  • AMD's Data Center division reported a 57% year-over-year revenue growth, now accounting for over 56% of total company revenue.
  • Investors are focused on AMD's upcoming Advancing AI 2026 event for updates on AI accelerators, deployment timelines, and new partnerships.

Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) surged 7.9% to $543.10 on Tuesday, July 21, after Microsoft announced plans to deploy AMD’s Helios rack-scale AI infrastructure across Azure. Shares touched an intraday high of $546.77, lifting AMD’s market capitalization to approximately $896 billion as investors welcomed another major hyperscaler endorsement ahead of the company’s Advancing AI 2026 event.

Microsoft Partnership Strengthens AI Position

The biggest catalyst came from Microsoft’s decision to integrate Helios AI systems, EPYC server processors, Instinct accelerators, Pensando networking and ROCm software into Azure’s AI infrastructure.

Helios is AMD’s answer to NVIDIA’s rack-scale AI systems, combining GPUs, CPUs, networking and software into a complete AI platform for training and inference workloads.

While Microsoft did not disclose deployment volumes or contract values, the agreement significantly strengthens AMD’s credibility as a full AI infrastructure provider rather than simply a GPU supplier.

Data Center Business Continues Driving Growth

AMD’s latest earnings highlighted the company’s accelerating AI momentum.

During Q1 2026, AMD reported:

  • Revenue: $10.25 billion (+36% YoY)
  • GAAP EPS: $0.84
  • Adjusted EPS: $1.37
  • Adjusted Gross Margin: 55%
  • Data Center Revenue: $5.8 billion (+57% YoY)

The Data Center division now generates more than 56% of total company revenue, reflecting continued demand for EPYC processors and Instinct AI accelerators.

Management expects Q2 revenue of approximately $11.2 billion (±$300 million), representing roughly 46% annual growth, while adjusted gross margin is projected to improve to 56%.

AMD reports second-quarter earnings on August 4.

Meta and OpenAI Expand Long-Term Demand

Microsoft joins an expanding list of hyperscale customers adopting AMD AI infrastructure.

Meta plans to deploy up to 6 gigawatts of AMD GPU capacity using MI450 accelerators, sixth-generation EPYC Venice processors and Helios systems.

OpenAI has committed another 6 gigawatts across multiple generations of AMD Instinct GPUs.

Combined, the agreements represent up to 12 gigawatts of future AI infrastructure, although deployment will occur gradually as data centers, power infrastructure and qualification processes are completed throughout 2026 and 2027.

Advancing AI Event Becomes Next Major Catalyst

Investors are now turning their attention to AMD’s Advancing AI 2026 event on July 22-23 in San Francisco.

Markets expect updates on:

  • MI450 AI accelerators
  • Helios deployment timelines
  • ROCm software ecosystem
  • Future GPU roadmap
  • Additional hyperscaler partnerships

Software remains one of AMD’s biggest competitive battlegrounds, where NVIDIA’s CUDA ecosystem still maintains a considerable advantage.

Technical Outlook: Bulls Eye $550 Breakout

From a technical perspective, AMD has regained bullish momentum after reclaiming key Fibonacci support.

The stock has recovered above both the 50-period EMA ($519.91) and 100-period EMA ($519.06) while holding above the 50% Fibonacci retracement at $517.08.

Immediate resistance stands at $530.66, which has already been surpassed during Tuesday’s rally. The next major upside target is $549.65, followed by $573.62 and $603.92 if bullish momentum continues.

On the downside, support is seen between $519 and $517, with stronger buying interest expected near $503.50 and $487.03.

The RSI near 67 reflects strong buying momentum while remaining just below overbought territory.

Bottom Line

AMD continues strengthening its position in the AI infrastructure race. Microsoft’s Azure partnership, 57% Data Center revenue growth, $11.2 billion Q2 revenue guidance, and long-term commitments from Meta and OpenAI provide improving visibility into future demand.

The key challenge remains execution. Investors will look for concrete deployment schedules, software progress and new customer wins during this week’s Advancing AI event.

From a technical perspective, the outlook remains bullish while AMD holds above $519. A sustained move above $550 would confirm the next breakout and could open the door toward $574, while the upcoming AI event and August 4 earnings remain the next major catalysts for the stock.
