The Odds of Theresa May’s Successor
Skerdian Meta•Monday, June 10, 2019•1 min read
Theresa May finally accepted defeat after she lost the fourth vote in the British Parliament to pass her Brexit deal. She announced her resignation a couple of weeks ago and last weekend she was out of the office. Now the Conservative MPs are in a race to take her place, with BoJO (Boris Johnson) leading the race. Here are the candidates and their odds of taking the leadership from Paddy Power:
- Boris Johnson – 4/7
- Jeremy Hunt – 9/2
- Andrea Leadsom – 8/1
- Sajid Javid – 20/1
- Michael Gove – 25/1
- Rory Stewart – 25/1
- Dominic Raab – 33/1
- Matt Hancock – 100/1
- Esther McVey – 100/1
- Mark Harper – 200/1
This morning we heard Dominic Raab say that the UK will be out by the end of this year deal or no deal. He would make best final offer to the EU to replace the backstop, so I suppose he’d trying to get his odds up. Boris Johnson has said basically the same thing, but let’s see who wins first. The deadline to enter the race is in less than an hour.
