Gold (XAU/USD) Price at $2,350 Amid Fed Rate Cut Speculation

This decline is partly due to a risk-on market sentiment driven by positive developments regarding a potential Gaza ceasefire announced by US President Joe Biden.

Anticipated US Economic Data

Traders are closely watching upcoming US economic data, especially the Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP) report due on Friday. Additionally, central bank decisions, including the Bank of Canada (BoC) on Wednesday and the European Central Bank (ECB) on Thursday, will significantly influence the Gold market.

Key Points:

  • Final Manufacturing PMI: 51.3 (previous 50.9)
  • ISM Manufacturing PMI: 48.7 (previous 49.2)
  • ISM Manufacturing Prices: 57.0 (previous 60.0)

US Dollar Weakness and Gold Prices

The US dollar’s bearish trend, due to speculation about Federal Reserve rate cuts amid easing inflation, has supported Gold prices. The latest US inflation report met expectations, with the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index rising 0.3% in April, maintaining a 2.7% annual rate.

The Core PCE Price Index also matched expectations, increasing 2.8% annually. This has led to a depreciation of the US dollar, encouraging investors to seek safe-haven assets like Gold.

Geopolitical Impact on Gold Prices

US President Joe Biden’s proposed three-part plan to end the conflict in Gaza has reduced demand for safe-haven assets. The plan, which includes a six-week ceasefire, increased humanitarian aid, and an exchange of hostages for Palestinian prisoners, has led to cautious trading in Gold.

As a result, the optimistic outlook for a ceasefire has negatively impacted Gold prices, with traders adopting a neutral stance.
