State Street and Galaxy Digital Unveil Innovative Cryptocurrency ETFs

Last year, Galaxy Digital formed a partnership with DWS for the European market, a strategic move paralleled by its latest collaboration with State Street. This initiative aims to develop new ETFs focusing on cryptocurrency enterprises and including both spot and futures-based instruments.
State Street’s role extends beyond investment management to include essential administrative and accounting functions for the newly introduced fund.
Expanding Crypto Investment Opportunities
State Street Global Advisors, part of the prestigious State Street Corporation, has officially applied to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to establish a crypto-oriented fund, named the SSGA Active Trust.
Galaxy and @StateStreetGA are collaborating to bring investors the next generation of digital asset-based strategies that will offer exposure to companies involved in the digital asset space, going beyond cryptocurrencies and bitcoin.

Under this arrangement, Galaxy, closely associated with Galaxy Digital—a pioneer in digital asset services—will handle the daily operational management of the fund’s portfolio.
The collaboration promises to open doors to the expansive $2.4 trillion digital asset ecosystem, employing managed strategies directed by seasoned fund managers.
Broadening Horizons Beyond Bitcoin
Since the U.S. sanctioned the trading of spot bitcoin ETFs earlier this year, the crypto market has seen increased legitimacy and investor interest. However, the scope of investor interest is broadening, with many seeking diversified opportunities that extend beyond straightforward Bitcoin investments.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury sanctioned the Moscow Exchange… cutting off the sanctioned company from the global dollar… the exchange announced an end to trading in U.S. dollars and euros. The next day it canceled trade in Hong Kong dollars. https://t.co/fw5z6wXEDm

Anna Paglia, Chief Business Officer at State Street Global Advisors, emphasizes the vast potential of the digital assets landscape, highlighting the adeptness of crypto-native companies in navigating this domain and leveraging its synergies with traditional financial markets.
In a testament to the burgeoning appeal of cryptocurrencies as a legitimate asset class, April 2023 marked another significant collaboration. Galaxy Digital replicated its European strategy by partnering with DWS to enhance crypto management solutions tailored for the European sector.
According to Laurent Kssis, a crypto ETF expert at CEC Capital, while the partnership’s announcement was lean on specifics, it signals a substantial commitment to providing robust administrative support for these innovative digital asset ETFs developed by State Street Global Advisors and Galaxy.
