Companies with exposure to tourism in China, such as Wynn Resorts (-8.1%), Las Vegas Sands (-6.6%), Royal Caribbean Cruises (-7.5%) and American Airlines (-5.5%) plummeted after the spread of the coronavirus has caused China to lockdown 15 cities involving over 57 million people during its New Year holiday celebrations. The virus has claimed 82 lives and over 2,700 people are infected as it continues to spread globally.

And energy companies such as Devon Energy (-5.3%), Halliburton (-6.2%) and Schlumberger (-5.0%) plunged after crude-oil prices extended their decline to the fifth consecutive session.
