Ethereum, the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency, has been caught in a downward spiral alongside other major altcoins, despite early indications of a bullish trend. While technical indicators currently paint a bearish picture, analysts are cautiously optimistic about a potential turnaround.
Ethereum Price Under Pressure
ETH has experienced a 7% price correction in the past week, currently trading at $3,230. BNB, another prominent altcoin, has also seen a decline of over 2%. Despite this downturn, a renowned crypto analyst, Moustache, has identified a “cup and handle” pattern on the charts, suggesting a potential bull run for altcoins in the near future.
However, contradictory signals emerge from on-chain data. While derivatives market indicators point to bullish sentiment, increasing Bitcoin exchange reserves suggest potential selling pressure. Ethereum’s technical indicators, including MACD and RSI, are currently bearish, indicating that investors might need to wait for a clearer bullish signal.
Decentralization Concerns and Whale Activity
Co-founder Vitalik Buterin has recently addressed concerns raised about Ethereum’s decentralization. While emphasizing the project’s commitment to decentralization, he acknowledged challenges and outlined potential solutions. Meanwhile, the launch of Spot Ethereum ETFs has failed to ignite a sustained price rally, although on-chain data reveals heightened activity among Ethereum whales.
While whale inflows have increased, outflows have surged, creating a net outflow. This dynamic behavior highlights the complexities of the Ethereum market.
ETH/USD Technical Analysis
Technically, Ethereum is showing signs of recovery after finding support at $3,080. The price is currently trading above the crucial $3,250 level, and a break above the $3,450 resistance could propel ETH towards the $3,500 mark. However, a failure to breach the $3,400 level might lead to a downside correction.
