Oracle (ORCL) Jumps 5% on Nvidia Data Center Talk
Nvidia could be finding a $250 data center project for OpenAI, which could be great news for Oracle.
On Monday morning, Oracle (ORCL) stock shot up by almost 5% after news broke that Nvidia (NVDA) could be funding a data center project for OpenAI.

Oracle added OpenAI as one of their customers recently, and Nvidia might be backstopping a new data center for the AI giant. The news slipped out on Sunday evening and caused Oracle stock to jump 1.5% initially and then 4.95% by Monday morning.
According to reports, Nvidia will provide guarantees for what could be a 10-gigwatt center, which is on the higher end of the average range. Oracle stock is now priced at $120 and climbing. This could be the news that the company needs to pull its stock price out of a recent slump.
ORCL Could Climb Much Higher
There is potential for this stock to grow rapidly on the news. Oracle lost 54% of its value since the beginning of June- a dropoff caused in part by quickly declining investor confidence in AI companies. Investors are worried about overspending and how that affects profit margins.
Now, Oracle stock is bullish, but shareholders may want to hold off on making bold moves until the reports about the Nvidia backing are confirmed. If they are confirmed, that could mean a major boost for both OpenAI and Oracle. The project could entail Nvidia providing $250 billion in support, which could cut into Nvidia’s stock value. The AI chip and GPU giant is already planning to spend $650 billion on data center investments this year.
OpenAI needs the backstop because it is considered unprofitable. With Nvidia’s support, they could move ahead with the project unimpeded, but the massive backstop puts Nvidia at risk.
Oracle’s involvement could give the company a strong hand up, though, as one of their newest customers is moving ahead with a project with a massive scale. There is still the chance that OpenAI will have to back out of the deal and let another interested company take over, but with Nvidia’s support, they should have no problem taking the data center project on if they want it.
Oracle is considered a risky stock at the moment, especially since it is about 65% below its all-time high, which it achieved back in September of 2025. With months of losses, Oracle will need to impress investors for a while to get back to that high, but for those who have invested more erectly, there could be major gains ahead.
